Before this week, you may have only considered Axe Body Spray to be a weapon in its ability to pierce the hearts of fingernail-biting young women who are completely out of your league. And, often, out of breath.
Or so the ads for the men's deodorant body spray would have you believe.
But the official masked scent of shower-defying teenage boys actually made about 10 Brooklyn middle schoolers sick after a student sprayed it around a classroom at Medgar Evers College Preparatory School. News of the incident began spreading on Twitter and was soon confirmed by New York City's Department of Education.
The fumes reportedly resulted in eight students going to the hospital and two being taken to their family doctors.
None of the students were seriously hurt, but the education department, according to a story tweeted by Smoking Gun, released a statement saying, "The school is looking into the incident. Disciplinary action is pending."
Looks like they might have to broaden the definition of The Axe Effect.
