The one perk of being a furloughed NASA employee

  • Shutdown has grounded thousands of NASA workers
  • Movie theater offers finds appropriate way for them to spend a few spare hours
The one perk of being a furloughed NASA employee

a movie theater is offering to help some shutdown-affected NASA employees who are long on time and short on dollars with both issues.

Specifically, filling up about 2 hours and saving them about $10.

Houston's Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is offering all NASA employees a free ticket this week to see one of the year's biggest blockbusters.

Probably pretty obvious which one the space-obsessed workers get to see, right?

Yup. They all get free tickets to "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2".

Just kidding. It's "Gravity", of course.

"Houston, we have a problem. NASA employees have been furloughed and need an activity!" the cinema posted on its blog.

The owner of the Houston theaters says anybody who sees the Sandra Bullock-George Clooney thriller "no doubt has a heightened appreciation for the brave men and women who put their life on the line every time they take flight on a mission into space."

And while we're not entirely sure if the anxiety-inducing film is the best way for paycheck-craving, furloughed workers to relax and unwind, it's still a pretty nice offer.

Plus they can always move one theater over and watch "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2." Not like they're going back to work any time soon.
