The Central Ohio community has risen up to support local sports anchor Dom Tiberi in his time of grief.
Tiberi, a beloved figure at HLN affiliate WBNS-10TV, lost his 21-year-old daughter in a car crash earlier this month. Hundreds of viewers and sports fans have expressed their condolences for Tiberi's loss, but there was one gesture in particular that is sure to bring a tear to your eye.
After the Ohio State Buckeyes claimed a victory over Wisconsin this weekend, every member of the Buckeyes team stopped and hugged Tiberi as they walked past. It is a sight to see, and whether it was because of the overwhelming number of sweaty bro hugs, or the love and support these young men showed, Tiberi seemed completely overwhelmed.
When Tiberi returned to the anchor desk after taking some time off to spend with his family, he thanked viewers for their concern.
"It’s never going to be the same. A little piece of me died,” he said during the newscast. “We’re going to try to make a positive out of this and thanks for sticking with me.”
One comment under the video seems to sum up the feelings of Buckeye Nation: "Stay strong, Dom. Columbus loves you."
