Click & cry: Dying father walks his girls down aisle

NEED TO KNOW
  • A dying father gave his daughters a touching gift -- the chance to walk them down the aisle before he passed
  • We need to invent a new, more intense word for 'sad'
Click & cry: Dying father walks his girls down aisle

Stop. Don't do this to yourself. Or at least, if you're going to, make sure no one is going to be watching you. This is a rough one.

Fred Evans, husband and father of four children, knew he was dying of melanoma. Before he passed, he wanted to be able to say he had walked his daughters down the aisle, so if and when their wedding days arrived, they would have that moment to remember.

He surprised his family in a church, clad in a suit and bow tie. One after the other, he led his two unmarried daughters to the altar. Finally, he walked with his wife, hand and hand, as family looked on from the pews.

Evans died in July of this year.
