Rapper Kanye West is facing misdemeanor charges after reportedly attacking a photographer in July.
The Los Angeles city attorney's office charged West on Friday with criminal battery and attempted grand theft. On July 19, a man told Los Angeles International Airport police he was taking pictures of an "individual" when he was attacked by the suspect. The photographer was taken to a nearby hospital with non-specific injuries.
A representative for West did not respond to a request for comment. The rapper is scheduled to kick off his "Yeezus" North American tour in Seattle on October 19. He also recently became a new dad to North West, his daughter with Kim Kardashian.
The arraignment is scheduled for October 10. Each charge carries a maximum sentence of six months behind bars.
