1. O-M-G! The 'N Sync reunion we have all been waiting for.
Although it's just a report, the news that members of 'N Sync would be joining Justin Timberlake on the VMA stage
has been tearing up our boy band-loving hearts from the second it was put out there. All of the members of the band (minus J.C.) were spotted at the Jay-Z/Justin Timberlake concert in Miami, sparking the original rumors, and although Lance Bass gave a non-answer on his radio show about the potential reunion, we are still holding out hope that this is true. Joey Fatone was also just spotted arriving at a New York City airport, fueling speculation even more, so if this boy band doesn't show up at the VMAs and give us even a snippet of "Bye, Bye, Bye
," a lot of fan girls will be crying on Sunday night.
2 . Gaga returns to the stage
VMA watchers will want to make sure they don’t miss the opening of the show, because Lady Gaga is making her big return to the stage by performing the new single from her upcoming album, “ARTPOP.” Whether she shows up in an egg, a meat dress or as her male alter ego Jo Calderone
, the pop singer will surely be wanting all of the “Applause
” from her Little Monsters as she shows the Barclays crowd that she hasn’t missed a step following her injury. Gaga underwent hip surgery back in March after she was forced to cancel the remainder of her “Born This Way” tour. With Gaga’s history of outrageous performances at the VMAs, we don’t doubt this one will still have people talking on Monday morning.
3. Kanye and Taylor’s VMA reunion?
Another thing that might have people talking is the potential reunion of Kanye West and Taylor Swift, four years after West awkwardly interrupted the young singer while she was giving an acceptance speech on the VMAs stage. Swift is nominated for Best Female Video and Video of the Year for her song “I Knew You Were Trouble" (Beyonce is NOT up against her for the award this time), and she is a presenter on Sunday. T-Swift seems to have a sense of humor about the mic-stealing incident now -- last month, when the VMA nominations were announced, she tweeted
, “Two VMA nominations! If you vote and get us one, I promise to keep a firmer grip on the mic this time ;).” And earlier this week, Swift gave her tourmate Ed Sheeran a jar of jam where she continued to make jokes about West's VMA diss:
Sorry Kanye -- looks like Taylor might be getting the last laugh.
4. Now that we've seen North West -- is it time for Kim Kardashian's big reveal?
West just went on Kris Jenner's talk show and debuted the first pic
of his and Kim Kardashian's daughter, North, so we're thinking it's time for Kim to make her red carpet return. The reality star has been M.I.A. since having North on June 15
, but since her beau just gushed about her on Kris' talk show, we think it's time for her to show her support for him as he performs at the VMAs. Plus, the VMAs were the place where West's BFFs Beyonce and Jay-Z revealed that they were expecting
back in 2011, so it would only be right for Kim to make a splash there, too.
5. Katy will be 'roaring' and Miley will be 'twerking'.
With all the commotion about 'N Sync's possible reunion and Gaga's comeback, the buzz over the other performers hasn't been as loud, but VMA performances are always known for shock and surprises. Robin Thicke is set to hit the stage singing everyone's favorite summer anthem "Blurred Lines
," and both Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry will be performing their new singles -- "We Can't Stop" and "Roar," respectively. Newbies Ariana Grande and Austin Mahone will also hit the VMA stage for the first time ever. We know we're excited -- and clearly so is Miley.
