Talk show host and former reality TV star Bethenny Frankel is revealing all about how painful her divorce and subsequent custody battle over her 3-year-old daughter, Bryn, have been in a candid new interview.
The former "Real Housewives of New York" star split from Jason Hoppy late last year, and told ABC’s "Nightline" earlier this week that while she knew getting divorced would be a tough choice, she wasn't aware of just how difficult it could be, especially with a child involved.
"I'm going through a brutal, brutal time," Frankel, 42, told “Nightline.” "It really, really is. I mean, there's no other way to slice it."
Frankel says she "felt like I disappointed people, because I felt like I was this role model, that represented the fairy tale. I'm definitely bruised."
Despite the fact that her life has been continuously documented on shows like "Bethenny Getting Married" and "Bethenny Ever After," Frankel says she's glad people saw her real life, warts and all: "I could have skated by. I could have stayed on the show and been like, 'Oh, everything's perfect with us. Everything's great,'’" Frankel said.
"It made me feel dirty for people to think that I had this perfect relationship and this perfect life."
The single mom says that while the divorce has been painful, she does miss one thing in particular about being married: "I would imagine eventually, sex would be a nice release, but you know, who knows?" Frankel also says, "If I'm exercising or doing yoga it'll take the edge off on some level."
Next up for Frankel is her daytime talk show, "Bethenny," which premieres September 9.
Tonight, Showbiz Tonight talks with Frankel’s former “Real Housewife of New York” cast member Alex McCord about what Frankel had to say about putting her life out there on reality TV. Make sure to tune in to HLN at 11 p.m. ET/PT.
