Charles Parker, 59, and his wife were killed inside their home.

A South Carolina husband and wife have each been charged with two counts of murder for the shooting deaths of a 59-year-old registered sex offender and his wife inside their home.

Union County police say Jeremy Moody admits specifically targeting Charles Parker because he was a sex offender. Parker was convicted in 1991 for third-degree criminal sexual misconduct.

"He told our investigators in his statement that the deceased, Mr. Parker, told him that he thought he was there to rob him," Sheriff David H. Taylor said in an interview with CNN. "He says, 'I am not here to rob you, I am here to kill you because you are a child molester.' And those were his words to our investigator."

According to police, Moody and his wife Christine walked up to the Parkers' home pretending they were having car trouble. They were met at the door by Gretchen Parker who spoke with the couple for a few minutes before being asked if her husband was home. Taylor says that when she and Charles Parker returned, the suspects forced their way inside and allegedly killed both of them. They were each found with gunshot and stab wounds.

Police arrived at the home Monday night after receiving a 911 call. They don't know when the deaths occurred.

The Parkers' home was equipped with a video surveillance system -- and a sign posted outside that read "Smile You're On Camera" -- and police say that is how they identified the suspects and were able to locate and arrest them at 3:40 a.m. Wednesday.

It's possible the quick apprehension saved at least one more life. Taylor says that Jeremy Moody "told us that it was a good thing we arrested him before Wednesday. Because he had a target and was planning to kill another sex offender yesterday."

The sheriff tells CNN that Moody is a possible white supremacist who lists an alias of "White Power Head" on his police report. The 30-year-old also has "SKINHEAD" tattooed across his neck.

Neither Moody nor his wife entered a plea during a Wednesday bond hearing. They have not yet been assigned legal representation and are next scheduled to be in court October 8 for a preliminary hearing.
