It's official! Jenny McCarthy new 'View' co-host

Showbiz on Location: It's sweet sixteen for 'The View!'

"The View" kicks off its sixteenth season.

Well, that was fast!

Not even a week after Elizabeth Hasselbeck left "The View," Barbara Walters announced on Monday that one new co-host will be Jenny McCarthy.

The blonde model, actress, and author will be joining the show in the fall, according to a statement from Walters: “We are delighted that Jenny will be joining us as a permanent co-host on 'The View' starting in September."

McCarthy has appeared on the show 17 times, eight of them as a guest co-host. Walters praised the actress as a "great addition to the show."

"Jenny brings us intelligence as well as warmth and humor. She can be serious and outrageous. She has connected with our audience and offers a fresh point of view," said Walters.

McCarthy gushed about the opportunity: "I'm beyond thrilled to be joining Barbara and the other amazing women at the table."

The best-selling author continued with her trademark humor: "I look forward to helping make hot topics a little bit hotter, and showing my mom that my interrupting skills have finally paid off."

McCarthy will officially start on September 9 to kick off season 17 of the hit talk show.
