It seems every woman feels like she's carrying a bowling ball in her stomach during the last few months of pregnancy. Still, Michelle Cessna might have felt that more than most. She was in for a surprise when she finally delivered her baby girl at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital in Kittanning, Pennsylvania, recently.
Her newborn weighed in at 13 lbs, 12 oz., which is not the largest on record (that honor goes to a 23-lb. baby boy born in 1879, according to the Guinness Book of World Records), but she's still a whopper when it comes to memorable births.
The hospital does not keep records on the heaviest baby ever delivered, but the two doctors involved in the birth said that they had never delivered a baby of that size before. Since the average baby is about 7 lbs, delivering a baby of Addyson's size can be a real challenge -- but luckily, Michelle had a C-section, which may have saved her quite a few long hours in the delivery room.
Michelle says that she has "the perfect family," thanks to her new addition.
