Three Florida men are accused of stealing a 9-foot-tall, 600-pound purple aluminum chicken statue from outside a San Mateo home.
According to WJXT, the homeowner told deputies he heard “screaming and hollering” on Tuesday morning and saw a Chevrolet truck dragging the statue away.
The homeowner reportedly said he saw one of the men mount and ride the chicken as they fled. About a mile down the road, they allegedly unhooked the statue from the truck and drove away.
First Coast News reported that 19-year-old Darrin Edwards, 21-year-old Tyler Jones and 18-year-old James Smith were identified as suspects based on eyewitness accounts and surveillance video. The three have been charged with grand theft.
