The immensely popular History Channel miniseries "The Bible" is getting a sequel. Creators Mark Burnett and his wife Roma Downey are bringing the follow-up TV miniseries to NBC with the working title "A.D.: Beyond the Bible."

The original 10-episode miniseries premiered in March to record ratings for the History Channel, with 13.1 million viewers. According to NBC, the follow-up series will begin "in the dark days after Jesus' betrayal and death."

Burnett and Downey (who also stars in the series as Mary, mother of Jesus) will produce the sequel series, along with their producing partner Richard Bedser. No date yet on when the series will premiere on NBC.
