Strike shuts down Bay Area trains

NEED TO KNOW
  • BART unions walk out over money fight
  • Bus workers may walk out this week as well
File photo: Passengers get off of a Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) train as it arrives at the Daly City station on August 15, 2011 in Daly City, California.

San Francisco’s BART train workers are on strike.

400-thousand commuters across the bay area will face massive gridlock without the Bay Area Rapid Transit system fully operational.

Union reps decided at midnight to walk.

They're fighting for a pay raise, after five years without one.

No trains will run today and bus workers could walk out this week too.
