“Sopranos” star James Gandolfini will be laid to rest on Thursday. The family confirmed to HLN that the funeral service will be held in New York City at the Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine in Morningside Heights.
Michael Kobold, a spokesman for the Gandolfini family, released a statement Sunday, thanking Italian authorities for their help in the tragic matter.
“We are fully aware that this process usually takes seven days and we are extremely grateful for their efficiency in dealing with this matter,” Kobold stated. “It has been our privilege to be guests in your beautiful country, despite the difficult circumstances. We sincerely thank you.”
The late actor’s remains arrived in the United States late Sunday night, People magazine reports.
“We are sure you can understand why we, the family, are so grateful to everyone who has been involved in this process,” said Kobold.
