Forget your traditional neighborhood watches. Or waiting for police. Residents in one Oregon county are turning their neighborhood into a “glock block.”
“We don’t feel neighborhood watch is sufficient, and we don’t feel the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office is sufficient,” Clackamas County resident Coy Tolonen told HLN affiliate KOIN. “We’re starting a new group.”
After chasing a burglary suspect off her lawn, Toloen said she started taking a concealed carry permit class. And she says she’s not alone. “They all have permits to carry,” she said about her neighbors.
Tolenen says she is sick of the petty crimes in the area and fears they may escalate. She says the neighborhood residents can’t wait for police and want to arm themselves for potential crimes. The message posted on neighborhood fliers make their intentions clears – “This is a Glock block. We don’t call 911.”
