Did Kansas cop kill his wife?

A murder trial is underway for an ex-cop accused of killing his wife and trying to make it look like suicide.

Prosecutors say Brett Seacat shot his wife Vashti to death and then set their home on fire. Seacat told police she was the one who lit the match and pulled the trigger, but interrogation video shows authorities doubted his story from the beginning -- in no small part because of the evidence.

To begin with, the gun was found underneath her body. Brett had no serious burns and no blood on his clothes, despite his claim that he tried to drag his wife’s body out of the burning bedroom.

Additionally, Vashti had served Brett with divorce papers just three days before she died. And while Brett said she was depressed and talked about suicide, her friends testified that she was happy.
