Ay caramba! A real-life 'Simpsons' theme park

Move over, Duff Gardens and Itchy & Scratchy Land! There’s a new destination that "embiggens" even the smallest theme park goer.

Universal Studios Orlando announced that it plans to open a new expansion this summer based on the fictional city of Springfield to surround its popular "Simpsons" simulator ride. For fans of the longest-running sitcom in television history, this news is bound to have them shouting Homer J. Simpson's “woo-hoo!”

“The expansive, new area within Universal Studios will be anchored by the mega-attraction, The Simpsons Ride, and will allow guests to enter the world of The Simpsons like never before,” a press release from Universal Studios Orlando said on Thursday. “It will be the only place in the world where guests can walk the streets of Springfield.”

Along with being able to walk around the hometown of America’s favorite animated family, guests will also be able to drink actual Duff Beer at the Duff Brewery (exclusively served at the park), eat donuts at Lard Lad (Mmm, donuts), and ride on the expansion’s newest attraction “Kang & Kodos’ Twirl ‘n’ Hurl” based around the show's outer space duo.

There will also be shops, new characters and iconic Springfield landmarks such as the statue of Jebediah Springfield, Apu Nahasapeemapetilon’s Kwik-E-Mart and the Comic Book Guy’s comic book store, The Android’s Dungeon from the popular series.

“For the first time ever – anywhere – fans will be able to walk down Fast Food Boulevard and visit the places that helped Springfield stake its claim as ‘Shelbyville by the Sea,” the press release also went on to say. “They will be able to grab a Krusty-certified meat sandwich at Krusty Burger, snatch the catch of the day at the Frying Dutchman… and imbibe at Moe’s Tavern.”

Universal Studios Orlando has shown that it knows how to create a fictional world at its theme park as it has done with its popular The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, so "Simpsons" fans should look forward to visiting “the Krustyest place on earth." However, if you do go just remember that you parked the car in the "Itchy Lot."
