The victim impact statements this week during the death penalty phase in the Jodi Arias trial were nothing short of heart-breaking.
Travis Alexander’s sister Samantha and brother Steven both choked back tears as they remembered their beloved brother's life.
When asked specifically about Steven in an HLN interview this week, Dr. Drew noted, Steven had described “night terrors, recurrent obtrusive thoughts, flashbacks … all caused by Jodi Arias. He put it all out there. It is obvious what he is feeling. He is angry and hurt and his life has been shattered by this woman.”
At one point, Steven told the jury that he no longer wants to see his brother's killer, noting that he has nightmares of someone coming after him with a knife among many other difficult issues.
Dr. Drew continued, “I have spoken to people that have had loved ones lost in traumatic circumstances and they will always tell you the same thing: ‘You never really get over it.'"
He added, “Steven is trying to piece his life back together and that's the work he must document. It will help him to move closer in aspects of what this has done for him -- but it will stay with him.”
