Lawyers: Castro will plead not guilty

NEED TO KNOW
  • Ariel Castro's lawyers say kidnapping suspect is not the "monster" he's been portrayed to be
  • Castro faces kidnapping and rape charges
Ariel Castro is arraigned at Cleveland Municipal Court for the kidnapping of three women in Cleveland, May 9, 2013 in Cleveland, Ohio.

Cleveland kidnapping suspect Ariel Castro will fight charges and plead not guilty.

That bombshell came during an exclusive interview his attorneys did with HLN affiliate WKYC.

They also say Castro has admitted nothing to them about the kidnappings and instead has talked about the daughter he fathered with Amanda Berry -- saying he loves the little girl dearly, and is committed to her well-being.

Castro is accused of holding Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight captive for a decade, subjecting them to assaults and beatings.

One law enforcement source has said Castro confessed to some things, but the source wouldn't go into specific details.
