We know how you feel about Monday morning -- not the greatest day, right? You fumble for the coffee, stare bleary-eyed at your overstuffed inbox, and wonder why you aren't still wrapped in a blanket cocoon on the sofa watching reruns of "Mad Men." It's rough, having to come to a job and make money, but we'll ease your pain and let you in on some of what this week has to offer.
Monday, May 13: Celebrate Stevie Wonder's 63rd birthday today when you get to work by listening to "Superstition" as loud as you can to kick off your Monday. Or, if you're under 21, you might be happier about today being Robert Pattinson's 27th birthday. Now you can use tonight as an excuse to marathon all the Twilight films.
Tuesday, May 14: Today is a day to write an ode to space: Skylab launched in 1973 on May 14. While you're at it, queue up your copy of Star Wars as well -- George Lucas turns 69 today. Thanks for all the great memes, George.
Wednesday, May 15: Movie buffs, get ready: The 66th Cannes Film Festival kicks off today with elaborate fanfare for "The Great Gatsby." New films from Steven Sodenberg, Roman Polanski and The Coen Brothers will also debut.
Thursday, May 16: Memphis kicks off the World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest today, which runs through May 18 and pits over 250 teams against each other for money, prizes, and most important of all, bragging rights.
Friday, May 17: Don't be down if you can't make it to Memphis for BBQ, because Friday marks the start of yet another unique food event. The Rocky Mountain Oyster World Championship kicks off in Throckmorton, Texas today. If you don't know what Rocky Mountain oysters are, do yourself a favor and surf the Web. Bon appetit!
