Reese Witherspoon is speaking out for the first time since her arrest two weeks ago, and she says her behavior was "unacceptable."
The actress stopped by "Good Morning America" on Wednesday and explained what happened when husband Jim Toth was pulled over in Atlanta April 19 for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.
Toth was charged with DUI and Witherspoon was arrested for disorderly conduct after yelling "Do you know my name?" to the police officer
"It's one of those nights," Witherspoon told the show. "We went out to dinner in Atlanta, had one too many glasses of wine. We thought we were fine to drive and we absolutely were not. And it's just completely unacceptable. And we are so sorry and embarrassed. And we know better."
Calling it "poor judgment," Witherspoon admitted that they "made a mistake, and it was something that will absolutely never happen again."
When pressed about what she said to the officer that night, the "Legally Blonde" actress said "I have no idea what I was saying that night."
She continued: "I saw him arresting my husband and I literally panicked. I said all kinds of crazy things. I told him I was pregnant. I'm not pregnant! I said crazy things. You only hear me laughing because I had no idea what I was talking about and I am so sorry. I was so disrespectful to him. I have police officers in my family. I work with police officers every day. I know better."
