Newborn girl found alone on beach

  • Baby rushed to hospital
  • Others at beach report hearing woman screaming
  • Hawaii has "safe haven" law to protect unwanted babies
File photo: Sandy Beach, on the island of Oahu in Hawaii

Police in Hawaii are looking for the parents of a newborn baby abandoned on a beach.

It happened late Sunday on Oahu.

A man says he heard a woman screaming and ran to help. Minutes later, somebody else found the crying baby girl.

She's OK.

Hawaii has a "safe haven" law. So the mom could have left the baby in a safe place without facing charges.
