  • Actress charged with disorderly conduct for interfering with husbands D.U.I. arrest
  • Issues statement of apology
Actress Reese Witherspoon and her husband were arrested early Friday, April 19, 2013 in Atlanta after they were pulled over for suspected drunken driving, the Georgia State Patrol said Sunday. Witherspoon was arrested on a disorderly conduct charge after she repeatedly refused an officer's orders to stay in the car while her husband, Jim Toth, was being given a field sobriety test, the state patrol said. Toth was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and failure to maintain lane,

Actress Reese Witherspoon was arrested this weekend in Atlanta.

A Georgia state trooper says she got in the way of her husband's D.U.I. arrest.

Witherspoon allegedly pulled the ‘do you know who I am’ card, and told the cop he'd end up on national news for arresting her.

She's since released a statement, saying:

"Out of respect for the ongoing legal situation, I cannot comment on everything that is being reported right now. But I do want to say, I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said. It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that is no excuse. I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. I have nothing but respect for the police and I'm very sorry for my behavior."

Arrest report: Witherspoon says she's an American and "allowed to stand on American ground."
