worker arrested for april fool's prank

A Virginia woman was arrested early Monday after police say she falsely reported a robbery at a Waffle House as an April Fool's Day prank.

Susan Tinker, 20, a worker at the food chain, called 911 around 6 a.m. on Monday to report a robbery at the Waffle House in Hampton, reports HLN affiliate WTVR.
When police arrived on the scene, officers investigated the robbery and searched the premises for more than an hour. Police later determined that there was no robbery while waiting for the restaurant manager to arrive. Authorities then concluded that Tinker called 911 as an April Fool's Day joke.
"This is certainly not funny in any sort of way," Hampton Police Cpl. Mary Shackelford said, according to the station. "We had to utilize the K9 officer, we had processed the scene which takes at least an hour if not a little longer, so our frustration is what if somebody else really needed help and I've got these resources somewhere else?"
Tinker was arrested and charged with one misdemeanor count of falsely summoning police.
