Billy Joel allows Vanderbilt student Michael Pollack on stage to play "New York State of Mind"

A college student at Vanderbilt University got up in front of Billy Joel and asked if he could play piano for him -- and the "Piano Man" said, "OK."

This happened during a question and answer session at the school back in January, but video wasn't posted to YouTube until late last month.

More than 400,000 people have watched freshman Michael Pollack take the stage and play "New York State of Mind" while Joel sang along. Check it out:

"Nice goin' Michael," said Joel. "Guy's got chops!"

Joel sounded pretty great, too, if you ask us!
