“When you need a verified expert in the field of sexually violent perpetrator commitment hearings, psychological risk assessments of sentencing, sexual harassment and gender discrimination matters for defendants and emotional [trauma] from medical malpractice defendants and plaintiffs, Dr. Richard Samuels has the experience, education, and prestige to help you support your vital arguments,” reads Samuel’s site.
Arias testified that her ex-boyfriend, Travis Alexander, doled out physical and sexual abuse that pushed her to the point that she had to kill him in self-defense. She also asserted that Alexander was a sexual deviant who was aroused by children.
Samuels will likely testify about the psychological toll Alexander’s alleged abuse took on Arias. He may also address whether it is plausible for Arias to have memory lapses from the day she killed Alexander due to the emotional trauma.
