If your icicle has its own Twitter account, it can mean only two things:
1. Must be a big, honkin' icicle.
2. Everyone's tired of winter and getting kind of bored.
Some combination of the above explanations produced @GiantIcicle, an account less remarkable for its content than its inspiration: a three-story high icicle so thick that crews in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, needed multiple days and multiple power tools -- including chainsaws -- to finally remove it Monday.
However, the city now has a new frozen menace, dubbed Son of Giant Icicle.

Like its theoretical daddy, this one also descends three stories and is creating safety concerns should it begin to chip away, or worse, break off and crash its estimated 1,000-plus pounds of ice to the ground. It currently wraps around the side of the building and hangs over a parking garage. Electrical wires are also caught inside of it.
With more of these ice masses popping up around town, one member of the fire department tasked with keeping an eye on this latest frozen tower suggested to the CBC that "We seem to be becoming the icicle capital around here." Saskatoon media reports this icicle measures 12 meters. Or, in American, 39 feet! Also, it's such a polite icicle.
Though nobody is exactly sure how it -- or the other ice masses -- got there. "It could be an insulation issue with the structure, lots of snow, lots of heat. I don't know what the combination is really," said Bill Coffin of Saskatoon Fire and Protection Services.
A Twitter user who lives in the area has been going around searching for and snapping photos of Saskatoon's monster icicles. No hurry though. With temperatures there staying below 20 degrees until the weekend, they're not going anywhere for a while.
