HLN is covering the Jodi Arias trial live gavel-to-gavel as it comes to its dramatic conclusion, beginning at 12:30 p.m. ET each day court is in session.

People watching the Jodi Arias trial may have noticed that defense attorney Kirk Nurmi is focusing Arias’ testimony on her sexual relationship with her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander.

Arias’ defense is trying to convince the jury that Alexander was an abusive, sexual deviant who was aroused by children, and that his alleged abuse culminated in a fight forcing Arias to kill him in self-defense.

Nurmi’s law firm specializes in sex crimes. His firm's website says that Nurmi defends people accused of sex crimes, and that the firm’s “results speak for themselves.”

“At the Law Office of L. Kirk Nurmi we understand that you do not have to commit a sexual offense to be accused of being a sex offender. We understand that innocent people can be accused of sex crimes such as sexual assault, sex conduct with a minor or sexual exploitation of a minor, or any sex offense with very little evidence. We also understand that being accused of committing such a crime is devastating and daunting. However, we also understand that the legal consequences are very serious and that if you are accused of a sex crime you need an attorney who has the experience and knowledge needed to provide you with an aggressive defense,” reads a statement on the firm’s website.

On Tuesday, Nurmi will continue his re-direct examination of Arias, and he will likely pick up where he left Monday, asking her about her journal entries. Arias read one of her entries in court Monday. In it, she wrote that her relationship with Alexander made her miserable. In another entry, Arias wrote that she wished she could die, and wished suicide was a way out.
