Anticipation is building among our Facebook and Twitter followers over the moment when prosecutor Juan Martinez will challenge Jodi Arias about her claim that she killed her ex-boyfriend in self-defense. Monday will be the second day of Martinez’s cross-examination of Arias, and he still has a lot of ground to cover.
GET CAUGHT UP: Recap: Week 8 of the Arias trial
Martinez has jumped around chronologically during his cross-examination of Arias, which is likely a technique to keep her off-guard. He has also maintained his aggressive courtroom demeanor. On Thursday, as he questioned Arias, Martinez raised his voice multiple times and cut her off when she did not answer his questions in the way he wanted.
This week, Martinez is expected to question Arias' self-defense claim with evidence of premeditation, including the theft of her grandfather’s gun, a gun with the same caliber as the one used to shoot Alexander. He will also likely bring up her decisions to rent a car and borrow gas cans for her trip to Mesa, Arizona, to visit Alexander in June 2008.

Last week, Arias finally presented her version of the events that led up to the brutal slaying of her ex-boyfriend. She described an altercation that occurred on June 4, 2008, in which Alexander body slammed her onto the bathroom floor after she dropped his new camera. She said she ran into the closet to get away from him, found a gun on the top shelf of his closet, and used it to protect herself. She said the gun went off, but that that didn't stop him. She says does not remember stabbing him multiple times. Alexander was stabbed in the heart, and his throat was slit from ear to ear.
