A Florida woman was “shot by her friend’s oven” this week, according to police.
Aalaya Walker, 18, and her friend craved waffles late Monday in St. Petersburg, reported The Tampa Bay Times. She therefore proceeded to preheat the oven, oblivious to the fact that her friend, JJ Sandy, was storing a magazine from his .45-caliber Glock 21 inside.
The Times reported that around 9 p.m., the magazine exploded, striking Walker mostly in her leg and chest. After picking out some of the casing fragments from her body, Walker took a bus to the hospital, where she was treated and soon released.
"Sandy stated that he does not have a temperature gauge on the oven so he estimates the temperature based on how far the knob is turned," read the police report, obtained by the Times. "I observed that the inside of the oven was damaged."
Though the incident was immensely hazardous, The Tampa Tribune reported that Sandy, 25, was not charged due to his possession of a proper concealed weapons permit.
