38,000 pounds of pork sausage recalled

NEED TO KNOW
  • Product could have small bits of soft plastic in it
  • 1 pound packs of Gwaltney Mild Sausage
Packaged meat company Smithfield Packing Company is recalling some 38,000 pounds of pork sausage because it may contain small pieces of plastic, likely from gloves, the U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service announced Thursday.

Check your fridge and your freezer for 1-pound packages of Gwaltney Mild pork Sausage roll.

If they have a 'use by' date of March 12, 2013, don't use them, they may contain small "glove-like" bits of plastic. Take them back to where you bought them for a full refund.

The sausage was sold in North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Texas, Alabama, Maryland, Washington D.C., Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, and Maine.
