SENTENCED: Drew Peterson gets 38 years

Drew Peterson was sentenced Thursday to 38 years in prison for murdering his third wife, Kathleen Savio.

Will County, Illinois, court spokesman Charles B. Pelkie, said Peterson received credit for the almost four years he has already spent in jail.

Almost eight years after Savio’s death, Peterson was found guilty of first-degree murder on Sept. 6, 2012.

Investigators first ruled Savio’s death an accident, but the case was re-opened in 2007 when Peterson’s fourth wife, Stacy Peterson, went missing. Stacy’s whereabouts are still unknown. Peterson is not facing any charges related to her disappearance.
