A private funeral for Reeva Steenkamp was held Tuesday morning in her hometown on Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
Friends and family mourned her death, even as her alleged killer stood in court and cried at the mention of her name.
Paralympian Oscar Pistorius is accused of shooting and killing Steenkamp in his home on Valentine's Day.
Her family says they are heartbroken. Her brother, Adam Steenkamp, spoke to reporters outside the funeral. "I want to say very much that there's a space missing inside all the people she knew," he said. "We will try and continue with the things that she tried to make better. We will miss her."
South Africans heard Reeva Steenkamp's voice one last time on Sunday via reality TV. She was one of the celebrities competing on a program called Tropika Island of Treasure. In her exit interview on the show, she blew a kiss to the camera and said, "I'm going to miss you all so much and I love you very, very much."
