U.S. alpine skier and 2010 Olympic gold medal winner Lindsey Vonn suffered a "complex knee injury" Tuesday after she crashed on a race course in Austria.
Vonn was competing in the opening day of the Super-G event at the FIS Alpine Ski World Championships in Schladming when she hurt her right leg. She was later airlifted from the race course to a hospital.
The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association's website says Vonn has been ruled out for the rest of the season, but she is expected to return for the 2013-14 World Cup campaign and next year's Winter Olympics in Sochi.
