Kristen Wiig's post-"Saturday Night Live" career is heating up once again, this time with a role in the highly anticipated sequel to "Anchorman."
The "Bridesmaids" actress was rumored to be in talks for a role in "Anchorman 2" for months, but the news was finally confirmed Monday by director/co-screenwriter, Adam McKay: "Kristen Wiig is officially on board for Anchorman 2," he posted to his Facebook page. "Couldn't be more excited."
Christina Applegate also took to Twitter to congratulate her future co-star: "So excited Kristen Wiig has joined our cast for anchorman2. Going 2 b best movie ever made. Besides the best movies ever made."
"Anchorman: The Legend Continues" is set to be released at the end of 2013 and will follow San Diego's most-watched news TV men (and women) as they navigate the competitive world of local TV news.
Details on Wiig's role have not yet been released, but she will be joined by the original cast from the 2004 hit, including Applegate, Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd and David Koechner.
