More raunchy details expected in Arias trial

This week in the Jodi Arias trial, jurors may hear more raunchy details about Arias' sexual relationship with Travis Alexander.

On Monday, the defense will call computer forensic examiner Lonnie Dworkin back to the stand. Dworkin will likely testify about sexual pictures and recordings he found on hard drives recovered by investigators.

During Dworkin’s testimony, the defense is expected to introduce a recording of a phone sex conversation Arias had with Alexander. Defense attorney Jennifer Willmott referenced the phone call during her opening statement. Willmott said during the call that Alexander told Arias she sounded like a 12-year-old girl having an orgasm for the first time. The phone call could support the defense’s theory that Alexander was a sexual deviant, who abused Arias.

Prosecutor Juan Martinez will likely object to the phone sex recording on the grounds of improper foundation, meaning Dworkin is not qualified to verify whose voices are on the recording. If Martinez is successful in barring the tape during Dworkin’s testimony, it could increase the chances of Arias taking the stand to verify who is speaking on the tape.

Soon after Alexander's body was found in June 2008, Arias initially told police she was not involved in Alexander's death. She later changed her story and told investigators that she witnessed two intruders break in and kill him. She eventually admitted to killing Alexander, saying it was in self-defense.
