"The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" cast mates have gotten into plenty of fights over the past three seasons, but when Brandi Glanville revealed that co-star Adrienne Maloof used a surrogate for her twins, it was the final nail of the women's friendship. Now, Maloof is firing back at her former friend.
Glanville, the ex-wife of actor Eddie Cibrian, mentioned to friends during an episode of "RHOBH" that Maloof, a mother of three, had used a surrogate for her 6-year-old twins, though Maloof had not made that information public.
While the exchange was cut out of the episode, news of Maloof's surrogacy spread far and wide to news outlets and gossip sites. Maloof, furious that Glanville would betray her trust, spoke with Life & Style about the pain it has caused her, and especially how the controversy contributed to the demise of her marriage to Paul Nassif, the father of her three children.
“Brandi took away something so precious from our family," says Maloof, who reveals that she had not told her twins, Christian and Colin, of the surrogacy yet. “I would think Brandi, being a single mother, would have a heart and understand my feelings, where I’m coming from."
According to the magazine, an insider reveals that Maloof opted to use a surrogate for her twins after extensive complications from the birth of her son, Gavin, now 9. Maloof and Nassif sent Glanville a cease-and-desist letter after her remarks, which Glanville refused to sign.
“Brandi did destroy our family,” she tells the magazine of her former friend. “Right now I’m really hurt and upset, especially because I’ve stuck up for Brandi as a mother in the past.”
Glanville, for her part, sees nothing wrong with revealing Maloof's secret. She tells Life & Style: “We all knew it already. She would always lie about it. It’s not that big of a deal. They’re still your children, just somebody else had to carry them.”
