Witness: I called Jodi Arias a ‘stalker’

NEED TO KNOW
  • Jodi Arias is accused of killing her ex-boyfriend, Travis Alexander, in Arizona
  • Arias says she killed Alexander in self defense

Travis Alexander’s ex-girlfriend says she called Jodi Arias a stalker.

Lisa Daidone (maiden name Andrews; pictured below) testified Wednesday that she based her opinion of Arias on things Alexander told her, and her personal experiences with Arias.

A lot of Daidone’s testimony seemed to skirt this issue of whether she thought Arias was a stalker, but she told two stories that seemed to hint at stalking.

Daidone said that sometime around December 2007, Alexander was over at her house and her front door alarm went off. They couldn’t figure out what happened, but she was scared enough to ask Alexander to spend the night.

Daidone also told the jury about a time when she was visiting Alexander’s house and Arias came in and saw them together in the kitchen then immediately ran out.

There was no mention of stalking until the end of her testimony when the jurors asked her questions, which is allowed in Arizona.

One of the jurors asked Daidone if she ever called Arias a stalker. Daidone said, “Yes.”

There was another dramatic moment Wednesday when prosecutor Juan Martinez slammed a photo of Alexander with his throat slit on the overhead projector, and then tried to ask Daidone a question. The defense immediately objected as irrelevant, and the attorneys went to a sidebar.

One of Alexander's sisters immediately stormed out of the courtroom and other family members started to cry.
Martinez resumed his questioning without the picture.

Martinez asked Daidone if any of Alexander's behavior ever warranted him having his throat slit. The defense objected again, and Daidone never answered the question.
