Our favorite felines are also killers? Well, yes, that's not a surprise -- cats have been proudly laying mice at our doorsteps for years. But according to a new study from the Nature Communications journal, they are wreacking havoc in a widespread way. They tell us that free-ranging domestic cats kill up to 3.7 billion birds and as many as 20.7 billion mammals annually. That's a lot of animals!
Luckily, there are quite a few cats in the Internet world that prove that our feline friends can be low key, too. Take Shironeko, one of five cats living in a Japanese household. He's so relaxed, he's cool with anything, including having cans stacked on his head.
In order to be an effective threat to tiny mammals, it's essential to master the art of staying awake. This little fuzzmeister doesn't quite have it down yet.
Brushing also apparently helps cats calm their baser instincts, as proven by cat superstar Maru here.
Perhaps people-watching also appeals to cats. Or maybe just this one cat.
Cats are notorious for hating water, but not all of them do. Perhaps a bath is the way to go for some furry felines.
If all else fails, just wait for your cat to pass out. It's impossible to see birds from the face-down position.
