Cake makes everything better, especially when the topic at hand is telling your parents you're gay. Tumblr user and sentimental cake decorator Laurel posted a photo of her masterpiece: A frosted, be-sprinkled cake that read, simply, "I'm gay."
Lest her parents be confused that the cake, itself, was perhaps gay, Laurel included a note nearly as sweet as her baked good:
"Good morning parents,
I'm gay. I've wanted to tell you for a long time. I thought that doing it this way would be a piece of cake. I hope you still love me. I mean, it's hard not to love someone who baked you a cake.
All my friends know and still love me. Your acceptance would be the icing on the cake.
I hope you, much like this cake, are not in tiers.
I hope we can look back on this and say, 'boy, this one really takes the cake.'
It gets batter. Love, Laurel."
Solid logic. If you've ever tried to get angry at someone while cake was involved, you know it's pretty difficult.
Laurel's story has a very happy ending: She posted an update on her Tumblr "Ellende-Generes" featuring another picture of the cake, cut, served and presumably enjoyed.
"My mom saw it and cried of happiness," she wrote. "We hugged and cried together. Then, we all ate the cake and talked. I am very luck to have such supporting parents and to have so much support from you guys."
She also termed her creation "The Gayke." Can't attest to her baking skills, but this lady certainly has a future in puns.
