Matt Damon and Jimmy Kimmel seem to be putting years of ribbing and their infamous "mock feud" aside for the sake of television -- the actor is scheduled for an interview Thursday on "Jimmy Kimmel Live."
The pair have a long history together. For the past few years, Kimmel has ended each show with the phrase, "Our apologies to Matt Damon. We ran out of time."
In 2011, Damon explained the running gag to Parade magazine, saying that Kimmel told him he came up with it as a throwaway line after "a particularly lame show."
According to Damon, Kimmel told him, "I was having kind of a low moment, and I just said, 'My apologies to Matt Damon; we ran out of time.' My producer was right off camera, and he doubled over laughing. It was just gallows humor."
Kimmel told Damon, "Nobody else got the joke. But it made us laugh, so we started doing it every night. I have no idea why I said you; it could have been anybody."
Damon, being a good sport, has appeared on Kimmel's show in the past as part of the gag and cursed out the late-night host for cutting off his interview. He also participated in the "I'm [expletive] Matt Damon" viral video with comedian Sarah Silverman, who was dating Kimmel at the time.
So will Damon finally get his much-hyped interview on "Kimmel," or do the pair have something else in store for us? Check out Damon's appearance Thursday night to find out!
