Your take: What was your very first car?

1956 Chevys, stations wagons and Ford Mustangs -- oh my!

What are we talking about?

Your very first cars!

After the 2014 Corvette C7 was unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show, we asked you what your first car was on HLN’s Facebook page. And you shared some great stories with us (thanks for that, by the way!).

Some of you weren’t too proud of your first ride, but were just happy it got you from point A to point B.

Peggy S.: ’73 Ford Country Squire station wagon in gold with wood panels… yuck! I hated it! But I would love this new ‘Vette!
Melanie L.: 1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera -- white with rust and ugly burgundy interior. The catalytic converter was stopped up too. Fun.
Jeffrey K.: 1974 Toyota Corona (the Corolla was introduced later) bought from a private party in the '80s. No heater, so my parents bought me a hand warmer to use in the winter… and this was in south Florida!

A lot of you just loved the fact that you had a car to begin with, no matter the appearance:

Candace C.: I can’t even remember, but it was duke blue and it got me where I was going. It was given to me and it never gave me any trouble at all. It was ugly but I loved that old car.
John T.: 1980 Dodge Colt. Looked like an egg but got me to and from work!
Judy B.: 1973 Oldsmobile Cutlass -- brown with a tan vinyl roof and interior. I didn’t get to choose my first car. I got the "best deal" my dad could get from his friend who owned a used car dealership, as did my siblings. My first car back in 1978 wasn’t glamorous but I was 17, I didn’t have to share it with anyone, it ran great and it got me around town!
Scott K.: 1970 Mercury Comet with a 302. No grease fittings and squeaked enough to drive you crazy after some years, but it was my first car and I was glad to have it.
Melissa L.: I was so super excited to get my car! A Ford Temp… loved it, but wasn’t the coolest kid driving around in a new sporty car. But my parents were awesome to just give me a car. Two weeks after getting it, yep, got a speeding ticket in my neighborhood. So embarrassing…

But most of you still haven’t forgotten your first (car) love:

Glenn K.: I was lucky enough to have a ’72 Datsun 240Z. Loved it and kept it for the next 13 years. Nothing since has ever driven as nice as that Z did.
Lindsey W.: My first car was a ’97 Mustang GT. I wish I still had it -- best car ever!
Cherie F.: 1968 Cougar XR7 with a 390 engine with a stick shift. Color was British Racing Green with luggage-colored interior and it was real leather! Such a great car!
Beth M.: 1966 Ford Mustang! It even had an 8-track player!
James H.: A 2000 red Pontiac Sunfire coup! I had that car for eight years and it was a five speed. I loved that car! It had 126K miles when I finally got rid of it!
Cara A.: First car was a beauty. It was a white 1990 Dodge Shadow. It was perfect for parallel parking when I was in high school because it was so small. The only thing really wrong with it was the horn -- sounded like a dead duck…
Eryn P.: My first car was a 2001 Ford Taurus. I only had to put $30 into the car to replace a part. It was a great car but some crazy lady turned out in front of me and totaled it. I think I would still have her if that didn’t happen.
