It's too early for March Madness, but an eighth-grader in Maryland had his “One Shining Moment.”
During his church league hoops game, Matt Demember threw up a no-look, over-the-back shot from the three-point line that hit nothing but net, bringing the crowd, along with his own teammates and even the opposing team to a frenzy.
“I didn’t have time to turn around, so I just kind of threw it up,” the 14-year-old told the New York Daily News.
Of course, we should have saw it coming. His mom said her son, whose friends call him "Birdman," likes to do eye-popping stunts.
"He’s kind of the master of this stuff. He’s always winning little contests, like, if you can make a shot from half-court, you get $5 or a Starbucks card," said Diane Demember.
We don’t want to knock the young man’s hustle, seeing as the viral video clip is making its way on the internet and TV stations nationwide, but there’s a bad side to this story.
Matt’s team lost the game.
