Will "The Today Show" be the same without the slightly inebriated antics of co-hosts Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb?
Viewers are set to find out, as the zany morning duo announced on air Monday that they will refrain from drinking wine for an entire month. Vino has become a mainstay in the fourth hour of their show.
Sitting behind empty wine glasses on set and partaking in their last sips Monday, the pair revealed they were challenged by Ladies' Home Journal to give up their favorite indulgence.
"We have a big dilemma," announced Gifford, who has been parodied on Saturday Night Live for her penchant for drinking on air. "I think we should have gone for February, the short month, but apparently, it's January."
"Cheers to the end!" announced Kotb, who would go on to tweet a French proverb Tuesday that referenced the challenge: "We know the true worth of a thing when we have lost it."
The ladies, who appear on the February cover of Ladies' Home Journal, took on the New Year's challenge in an attempt to get healthier.
“My first reaction was, “Are you crazy?”' Gifford says in the magazine. "But I’ll do it to lose weight. In the past I’ve given up cheese, pasta, sweets, bread…why not wine?”
