Lozada: Chad & I held hands, but we’re still apart

  • 'Basketball Wives' star: 'I care for Chad ... we love one another'
  • Photo showing couple holding hands was taken during 'process of blessing the food,' she says
Are Chad Johnson and Evelyn Lozada getting back together?

Don’t believe everything you see on the screen, says reality TV’s Evelyn Lozada, who knows a thing or two about wayward portrayals.

The breakout star of “Basketball Wives” says reports about new pictures that show Lozada and former NFL husband Chad Johnson holding hands during the holidays “have gotten a wee bit out of control.”

The photos have fueled rumors that the mercurial couple has mended fences and sparked several questions across the internet: Have they gotten back together? Has she forgiven Johnson like another famous domestic abuse case?  Or have the pics been taken out of context?

In reality, they have, Lozada says in a new blog post on her site.

“I attended a dinner with Chad’s daughter, not only because I love baby girl like my own, but to support Chad and his fan appreciation dinner.  While at the dinner, several photos popped up on the Internet of Chad and I holding hands, while in the process of blessing the food. The blogs made last night seem as though, we walked hand and hand into the restaurant announcing a reunion, which wasn’t the case,” she says.

It all means that the couple are still working through their issues following a violent confrontation last August in which Lozada was head-butted, Johnson was arrested, cut by the Miami Dolphins and the couple's short-lived marriage was dissolved.

And Lozada says despite them being able to attend the same events and take pictures together, any meaningful reconciliation is on hold – for now.

“I care for Chad, we are friends and we love one another, however, we are still separated, not living under the same roof and working on ourselves because we have a long way to go,” she said. “Chad and I are attending therapy separately, meeting with a Life Coach and trying to figure out how to work on our individual selves and navigate through this entire ordeal.”
