Background: Jodi Arias, an aspiring photographer, grew up in Yreka, California. She practiced photography using a film camera at age 10. The high school dropout converted to the Mormon beliefs after meeting Travis Alexander in Las Vegas, Nevada. While in jail, she won a caroling competition judge by Sheriff Arpaio in December 2010. Arias beat out some 50 other inmates for the content’s top prize, winning a Christmas stocking brimming with goodies, as well as a turkey dinner for herself and her cellmates. She has appeared on CBS’ 48 Hours and Inside Edition proclaiming her innocence. In August 2011, Judge Stephens granted Arias’ Pro Se Petition, which allowed her to defend herself. A few days later, Arias concluded she was in over her head and requested her attorneys be put back on the case.
The case against Jodi Arias reopens this Friday night on Nancy Grace Mysteries at 8 & 10 p.m. ET on HLN.
