Secret Santas come in all shapes & sizes

  • Sometimes, people go out of their way to bring some Christmas joy to others
  • Whether strangers or close kin, these 'Secret Santas' hit their mark
Secret Santas come in all shapes & sizes

Truth: Usually Secret Santa exchanges involve buying a three-pack of Ferrero Rocher from the grocery store checkout aisle and presenting it to a co-worker you don't really like.

However, there are some times when this Secret Santa thing turns out for the best. Santas come in all forms, and with the right gift, they can light up a holiday season -- no chocolates necessary, just good old fashioned human kindness.

Here are some of our favorites:

The random-acts-of-kindness Santa: A man in Reading, Pennsylvania, gave out $100 bills to those in need. Some of the reactions are tear-jerking.

The Ginger Santa: Conan O'Brien got in on the Secret Santa fun in his office and surprised a staffer in a way only a very famous person with famous friends could.

The after-Sandy Santa: In the wake of Superstorm Sandy, another Secret Santa gave out $100 bills to those struggling to recover.

The warm n' fluffy Santa: Getting your kid a pet for Christmas is always a gamble. But when they are this genuinely happy, it's pretty much a jackpot.

The military homecoming Santas: They'll be home for Christmas, and, no, it's not a dream.
