Justin Bieber may be safe now after an alleged murder-for-hire plot to kill the superstar was foiled, but his fans are up in arms over the frightening incident.
"Beliebers," as his rabid fan base is called, took to Twitter to express their shock and disbelief that anyone would want to harm their beloved idol.
"Justin bieber is a target of a murder plot," wrote user @kellyrauhl. "I would do anything to protect you @justinbieber."
"#BELIEBERS please keep your tweets positive in light of the plot against Justin," said @bobbiekingsbury. "Surround @JustinBieber with LOVE and tweet for his SAFETY."
Two New Mexico men were arrested in the bizarre murder-for-hire plot which targeted the "Beauty and the Beat" singer. The would-be hitmen were planning on strangling and castrating the pop star, along with three other people, after meeting convicted killer Dana Martin in a New Mexico prison.
Martin's obsession with the pop star led him to recruit the two men -- Mark Staake and Tanner Ruane -- to carry out the murder with chilling precision.
In light of the foiled plot, Showbiz Tonight received a statement from Bieber's representative Wednesday. “We take every precaution to protect and insure the safety of Justin and his fans.”
Bieber fan @MateoGenaro tweeted, "Shocked to here those sicko men plot murder on @justinbieber! Thank god he's alright!"
"Who in the world would try to kill @justinbieber," wrote @Danii_Screamz. "Woke up to hear that.. What has come to this world!!!!"
