Those two magical tickets that have all the matching numbers for Wednesdays $579 million Powerball jackpot will no doubt change the lives of a lot of people, but the long arm of the lottery doesn't stop there.
According to Powerball.com, 58 players who matched five numbers (but not the Powerball) won $1 million each. Eight of them won an additional $1 million because they opted to pay an extra dollar for the PowerPlay feature, which increases payouts that are not the main jackpot.
Another 485 players matched four numbers and the Powerball and won $10,000. And 47 of those lucky souls played the PowerPlay option and upped their winnings to $40,000!
More than 40,000 players scored a "Benjamin" (or more depending on their PowerPlay choice).
In all, 8,092,453 winning tickets were sold totaling $131,519,015 (not including the big jackpot money of course). Most of that will be paid out in four dollar increments (that's the payout for getting the Powerball alone).
We'll no doubt be hearing a lot from the giganto jackpot winners in the days ahead, so in addition to their stories, Friday on Morning Express with Robin Meade, we heard from some of those other winners. They may not have won the BIG money but for many it was just enough and just in time!
