Consumers' favorite car is...electric???

If you are looking for a new car, wouldn’t you like one that people love?

Well, the vehicle that people love the most, according to Consumer Reports, is the Chevy Volt. It’s the second year in a row the Volt is at the top of the list.

The Volt is both an electric car and a gas-engine one. But it’s not like a normal hybrid. Here’s how it works: you drive it until it runs out of electric power, and then after that, the gas engine takes over and you can go as far as you want by going to a gas station.

The Volt is really setting a new trend because Ford is coming out with several products that work in a similar way, where they’re both an electric car and a gas car in one.

I think this is really the trend for so many Americans, because people aren’t that hot about all-electric cars. I have a Nissan Leaf, and if I run out of battery power, I’m calling a tow truck. Managing how far you can go on a charge makes a lot of people really nervous. It’s called “range anxiety.”

But California is going to force automakers to put a lot of electric vehicles on the road. A lot of new models are coming out. Maybe, just maybe, the range will get wide enough with electric cars that we’ll actually want to own them.
